In Memory of Michelle Jackson
Friend, Colleague, Filmmaker

We dedicate Celtx 1.0 to the memory of Michelle Jackson.

Many of you knew Michelle through conversations on our forum, via email, or having met her at one of the many events she attended on behalf of the Celtx Team.

In 2002, we were a fledgling company interested in developing software for the film industry. One problem, though -- we knew very little about filmmaking. I bumped in to Michelle, who was already a friend, at a local coffee shop. Knowing she was a filmmaker, I picked her brain about who was around to help us navigate the minefield that is filmmaking. I described someone who was young, open minded, understood filmmaking, and could help gather up ideas and feedback from others in the industry.

"You need me!", Michelle said. And indeed we did. So we hired Michelle for two weeks to tell us everything we needed to know.

Six years later, Michelle was still explaining stuff to us.

It's impossible to overstate the impact that Michelle had on us and what Celtx has become. Her energy, travels, contacts, opinions -- all played an integral role in the development of the software and the personal development of each of us here at Celtx HQ. A filmmaker at heart, Michelle would argue passionately for the interests of our users, helping guide how each new feature was implemented. Professional, articulate, and engaged, Michelle constantly challenged our thinking, never letting us stray from our true, core principles.

Michelle is everywhere in Celtx, from what the software does, to how it does it, to the Sample Projects used by thousands of people everyday as their first step in learning how to use the application.

We all miss Michelle. We wish she was here to see 1.0 -- we couldn't have done it without her.

Thanks Michelle.
